instead, i'm going to take a minute to share my condolences to the JMU community. last night, a student was hit by a bus and killed. it was late, she was wearing dark clothes, and crossed the intersection on a 'do not cross' light while talking on her cell phone. a really, really tragic accident.
but that's not all.
the death of this student was the seventh at JMU this semester; six of which occurred in the last month, THREE of which occurred last week. all unexpected. it could have happened to anyone.
a trademark of JMU is their close community & their unwavering spirit. they are, in fact, #jmustrong. each and every one of them bleeds purple.
so today, people across the country are participating in "purple out for our fallen dukes" to honor the lives of all those lost. keep them in your thoughts. it could have been you, your friend, or family member. keep safe & stay alert.
