About a year and a half ago, this was the biggest fad on facebook. Call me creepy, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading random facts about my friends. I just re-read my list, and I think I can think of 25 newer, and better, things to say.
1. I am a huge procrastinator. My final project for my internship is due Friday, and I haven't even started writing my paper or getting my work samples together. I have had all summer to do this.
2. I can be really anal about things. I like things to be in a certain order and be done a certain way and it really annoys me when people try to get me to do things their own way. I'm also kind of a neat freak, but not to the extent of actually cleaning. I hate vacuuming. Hate it.
3. I tend to worry about other people more than myself. I'm the girl at a party taking care of the drunk girl in the bathroom, or making sure everyone has a ride home. I've been called 'The Mom' on more than one occasion.
4. I'm graduating from college next May and the idea of it is really starting to terrify me. A couple of weeks ago I got an email from the Registrar's Office saying my Application for Degree has been approved and that I am all set to graduate, assuming I pass all my classes. I was looking at my transcripts online last night and my Class Standing read Senior. I do not want to grow up.
5. A majority of my friends at home are at least 2 years younger than me. I don't have a problem with this, except a lot of the time it makes me feel really old. But then I hang out with my old man boyfriend and feel young again. It's an interesting cycle.
6. My boyfriend is not really an old man. He's 24 and a lot smarter than I am. I sure do love him a lot, and I hope he knows it even though I am not so nice to him a lot of the time.
7. When I am in a not so good mood, my boyfriend calls me "Storm Cloud Karen." When I was a child and in a bad mood, my parents called me Gertrude. Apparently I take on some sort of alternative identity. Cool.
8. I fully believe every girl should have at least one guy best friend. Mine is Brady. He gives me advice and jams out to T.Swift with me. He is also super charming and makes me feel good about myself. Every girl needs that.
9. I really don't talk to anyone I went to high school with anymore, with the exception of two of my best friends. I've known one of them since I was a baby, and the other since I was about 5. I'm big on long term friendships. One of them is getting married next summer and I am her Maid of Honor. I couldn't be more excited.
10. It's so weird to me that people my age are getting married, married, having babies, or already have babies. While I do want to get married someday, I am in absolutely no hurry to do so.
11. The idea of being pregnant is the most terrifying thing I can imagine. There's a person, inside you. A teeny tiny person with hair and fingernails that was created from fluid. FLUID. I know it's a miracle of nature, but it freaks me out. I know I will probably change my mind about this, but that's where I stand for now.
12. I entered college with the full intent to study journalism. After taking my first mass media class (Media Writing & Reporting), I realized that I really, really hate interviewing people. And scheduling interviews. And talking to people that I don't know. Even though I liked the writing aspect of it, I decided to change my concentration to Public Relations. I'm glad I did. However, I dug Jeff Halliday so much that I decided to join The Rotunda. I might not contribute much, but I really do love those editors and admire them.
13. Longwood was not my first choice school, but I feel I was destined to go there. When I was in 11th grade we did a College Connect activity where we filled out a profile sheet on a college. I randomly chose Longwood because they were one of the only Virginia schools that rendered a result when I searched "journalism" as a major.
14. James Madison was my first choice school, and probably for all the wrong reasons. I often wonder what my life would have been like had I gone to school there. I'm convinced things worked out for the better.
15. I got a 4.0 last semester. This marked the first time I have EVER gotten straight A's. I hope to do it again this year, or at least make Deans List.
16. I don't really mind being alone or doing things by myself, but at the same time I don't think I could handle living alone.
17. The first year Robbie and I dated, we hardly ever talked on the phone. We now talk at least twice a day, and I can't really go to bed without having said goodnight to him first. Funny how things change.
18. I like to read, a lot. I'm especially drawn to chicklit and young adult novels that are way below my reading level but have the best stories. There are also several 'classic' books that I never had to read for school and therefore haven't...examples: Pride & Prejudice, The Scarlett Letter, The Awakening....I need to expand a little bit I think.
19. I love my Mom a lot. She and I have a really good relationship, and I'm a lot like her in some ways.
20. I have a really good memory, but sometimes I pretend to forget things to get myself out of trouble. I wouldn't consider this lying, because the things I pretend to forget are things that a lot of people actually would forget. It's acting.
21. I started writing this list on July 26. It is now August 16. See what I mean about procrastination?
22. During the summer I eat ice cream at least twice a week (usually more). I'll get really ridiculous cravings for it at random times and indulge. This is okay though, because from October to about April I very rarely eat it (maybe once a month).
23. I love weddings. Everything from the ceremony itself right down to the color of the napkins. After interning with a wedding planner this summer, I really appreciate everything that goes into planning a wedding. I also know that it is one of the most stressful jobs on the planet.
24. I am not a morning person. It generally takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to fully wake up. And sometimes I yell. Sorry Robbie.
25. The last thought is always the hardest. The truth is, I really don't know what else I want to say about me. There are a lot of things left unsaid, but granted, a lot of things aren't important.
And that's all I have to say about that.
